Miller, a Michigan State product, finished last season with a 41-18-8 record with a 2.22 goals-against average and tied a career-best with five shutouts.
He becomes the first Sabres netminder to win the award since Dominik Hasek did so for the final time back in 2001.
Other finalists for the honor were four-time winner Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils and Ilya Bryzgalov from the Phoenix Coyotes.
Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins took home the award in 2009.

In the Giants' last 20 games against fellow teams from the NFC East; they are 13-7 ATS.

Dallas went 9-7 SU and 7-9 ATS last season and with the amount of talent the Cowboys have, a similar performance won't do.
The Cowboys have been atrocious against divisional rivals, going 6-14 ATS in their last 20.
The Washington Redskins are longshots to win the division at +550.
